MARSHALL, TEXAS.J Most Tasteful Fattern Report of the Urand Jury: In- lh grand jury's repnrt it is very gratifying to note that they say there has been a marked decreane in the commission of orime in this county. The jury find that the greater part of the reports of county officers are not made out in conformity with the law, hut attribute this neglect to the fact that there have been many changes in the laws of which It has been lmible for the officers to apprise" themselves, coti-seOftiauUy-us iudietmerrtr were present'' They recommend that county officers acquaint themselves with the laws concerning reiwrts as soon as possible. They found the jail in excellent condition, with the exception of the roof.which leaks. They recommend that the commissioners' court have the needed repairs made.

Mr. Bouhain, the jailer; is complimented as the right man in the right place. They say As far as we can learn the penal laws are as strictly enforced in our county as they are in any county in this State," and in conclusion that "We feel that we have, in the main, preferred indictments in all cases where the public interest requires. And happy are we congratulate our people upon the improved financial condition of our county, believing, as we do, that in the near future the financial distress heretofore endured, will, to a great extent, be removed from our heretofore oppressed people." i'rlendleaa and Dead.
